Tritons Pull Away in Second Half to Beat the Blue Tigers


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Franck Yetna posted a double-double, but Missouri-St. Louis took advantage of hot second half shooting to beat the Lincoln men's basketball team, 69-51, on Thursday (Jan. 16).

Yetna led the Blue Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds and also tallied a block, a steal and an assist. Mikey West also scored in double figures, finishing with 11 points, three boards, a pair of assists and a steal. Matthieu Biembongo blocked three shots and had eight points and eight rebounds as well as an assist. 

Lincoln (12-4, 4-4 GLVC) turned the ball over only five times and Missouri-St. Louis (8-7, 6-2 GLVC) held just a slim 34-31 advantage in rebounding, but UMSL shot .512 overall and .500 from three-point range to pull away in what was a two-point contest at halftime. The Blue Tigers entered the break down just 29-27, but the Tritons shot .565 from the field to break open the game. Lincoln entered the night on a six-game win streak and had not lost since Dec. 7, but LU was held to .306 shooting from the field and .226 from beyond the arc on Thursday.

Malcolm Davis chipped in eight points and secured a rebound while Tyler Chapman finished with five points, two assists and a board. Max Ekono closed out the scoring with three points, four rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Tyson Robinson and Caleb Wright each pulled down a rebound while Youssouf Timera also represented Lincoln on the court.

The Blue Tigers travel to Kirksville, Mo. on Monday (Jan. 20) to play Truman State at 7:00 p.m. CST.
