JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's soccer played its first game since 2001 on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 8) and made it memorable by earning a shutout victory. The Blue Tigers beat visiting Lee, 1-0, to start the new era of LU men's soccer off with a 1-0 record.
In the 61st minute of play,
Shandee Brooks attempted a shot off the right corner which Lee's goalkeeper deflected but could not control. The ball bounced to
Christopher Hull, who shot from the left side of the net past the tender and in for the only score of the contest. Overall, the shots were fairly even, with the Blue Tigers possessing slight advantages in total shots (10-8) and shots on goal (4-3).
Goalkeeper VIncent Osei had three saves, Brooks attempted three shots and
Guilherme Goncalves Capaldi notched two shot attempts. Hull attempted two shots and
Adam Griffiths and
Ackeem Mullings each had a shot on goal.
The Blue Tigers are off until Friday (Sept. 13) when Lincoln hosts Harris Stowe at 7:00 p.m. CDT as part of a double-header with the LU women.
