JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Four members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures, but the Blue Tigers fell to Rogers State, 70-62, in their final game of the regular season on Saturday (March 2).
A senior day ceremony was held prior to the game to honor graduating players
Elijah Farr,
Jamar Madge, Jr.,
Sam Rautins,
DJ Richardson and
Arash Yaqubi, and all five players had an impact in Saturday's game. Farr posted his eighth double-double of the season, leading LU with 16 points and 12 rebounds while providing an assist and two blocks.
DJ Richardson finished with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal while Yaqubi pulled down two rebounds.
Rautins finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points and dished a team-high four assists while blocking a shot and collecting four rebounds. Madge, meanwhile, ended the day with 12 points and a rebound.
The game was tied once and featured eight lead changes, but Rogers State (17-11, 14-8 MIAA) took a 33-26 lead into halftime and prevented the Blue Tigers from getting closer than within three over the final 20 minutes. The Hillcats shot .439 for the contest while Lincoln (14-14, 9-13 MIAA) shot .361. RSU also finished with slim advantages in rebounding (38-37) and turnovers (6-7), but LU made seven treys compared to five for the Hillcats.
Franck Yetna came off the bench to provide four points, three rebounds and two steals, and
Tyson Robinson had an assist and a steal as well as two boards and one point.
Peyton Williams collected three rebounds and
Jose Roberto Tanchyn had two boards, one point and a block.
Caleb Wright also represented Lincoln on the court on Saturday.
With the regular season completed, Lincoln will now turn its attention to the postseason. The Blue Tigers will have the No. 10 seed in the upcoming MIAA Men's Basketball Championship tournament and will play on Wednesday (March 6) in Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium at 8:15 p.m. CST. The full schedule for the tournament will be released by the MIAA later on Saturday.
