EVANSVILLE, Ind. -
Lindsey Brandt,
Abbi Conrad and
Mackenzie Graham each had two hits, but the Lincoln softball dropped a 6-4 decision to Cedarville in its second game of the Blue Bridge Battle on Friday (Feb. 23).
Lincoln (4-4) trailed 6-2 entering the bottom of the seventh but mounted a comeback, beginning with
Vanessa Cardenas reaching on a walk before scoring on a double by Brandt. Conrad hit a double later in the inning to plate Brandt and took third on a passed ball, but the Yellow Jackets forced back-to-back outs to seal the 6-4 win.
Cedarville (1-6) scored the first three runs of the contest in a two-hit first inning, but
Gabby Newman put Lincoln on the board in the bottom of the third with a triple that scored Graham. Newman later came home herself on a line out by
Taylor Heimbaugh, but a fielder's choice kept the score at 3-2 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
Neither team would score again until the top of the fourth, when Cedarville extended its lead to 4-2 with a solo home run. The Yellow Jackets later plated two more runs on a pair of seventh inning hits, making it a 6-2 affair before Brandt's double put Lincoln back on the board.
Newman and Hinnah had hits while
Paige Rademann tossed a pair of strikeouts in the circle. Cardenas led LU with seven putouts and
Jamilyn Bagby was next with four. Hinnah had four assists.
