EVANSVILLE, Ill. - The Lincoln softball team dropped an 8-2 decision to McKendree in its final game of the Blue Bridge Battle on Saturday (Feb. 24).
Taylor Heimbaugh had two hits and the only RBI of the game for the Blue Tigers, with her single in the fifth inning driving in
Jamilyn Bagby to cut the Bearcat lead down to 4-1. In the seventh inning, Heimbaugh hit into left field to advance
Ella Percival to third, and Percival later scored on a throwing error.
Leslie Callahan,
Abbi Conrad and
Gabby Newman also had hits for Lincoln (4-6), but McKendree (4-4), which committed three errors, had 10 hits of its own.
Mallorey Rogers struck out three in the circle before being relieved by
Abby Pulliam, who did not allow a hit or a run.
Vanessa Cardenas led LU with eight putouts while Bagby and Conrad, who turned three assists, each finished with three putouts apiece.
Maris Ollison provided four assists and Newman supplied two.
Lincoln's next games will be on Wednesday (Feb. 28) as the Blue Tigers travel to Bolivar, Mo. to play Southwest Baptist in a 3:00 p.m. CST double-header.
