Four Score in Double Figures as Blue Tigers Sweep Lopers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Four members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures and two others scored nine points as the Blue Tigers rolled to an 87-66 win over Nebraska Kearney on Saturday (Feb. 17).

This win, combined with LU's 90-67 road victory over UNK back on Jan. 4, gives the Blue Tigers a season sweep over the Lopers. It is Lincoln's second sweep of 2023-24, as the Blue Tigers also won both of their games against Central Missouri this year.

Elijah Farr led the Blue Tigers with 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Sam Rautins came off the bench to provide 16 points, three boards, an assist and a steal and Tyson Robinson added 14 points and three assists to the winning effort. Trey Boston also finished in double figures, tallying 11 points, three assists, two blocks and a pair of rebounds.

Lincoln (14-10, 9-9 MIAA) shot .516 from the field and .481 from three-point range, and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. The Blue Tigers drained 13 treys, out-rebounded the Lopers 37-28 and scored 18 points off 12 UNK turnovers. Nebraska Kearney (5-19, 2-17 MIAA) shot .400 overall but just .333 in the second half, and UNK received just three points from its bench compared to the 34 scored by LU's reserves.

Franck Yetna and DJ Richardson each finished with nine points and five rebounds, with Yetna dishing four assists while Richardson had two dimes and a pair of steals. Jose Roberto Tanchyn also ended the afternoon with five rebounds and chipped in five points to go with a block. Jamar Madge, Jr. provided three points, two rebound, an assist and a steal. Tyvin Garrison, meanwhile, closed out Lincoln with two points and a board.

The Blue Tigers travel to Topeka, Kan. on Thursday night (Feb. 22) to play Washburn at 7:30 p.m. CST.
