JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - It was a tale of two halves in Jason Gym on Saturday (Dec. 14) as the Lincoln women's basketball team took a 10-point lead into the break before falling to Principia, 58-46.
Hanne Nybo and
Emma Wolken each scored 10 points. Nybo turned in a double-double, finishing with 10 rebounds, two assists, a pair of steals and three blocks. Wolken, meanwhile, had an assist and a steal.
Lincoln (1-7) scored 17 points in each of the first two quarters on .448 shooting to take a 34-24 lead into halftime. Principia (5-2) made only one three-pointer in 11 tries in the opening half and shot just .318 from the field. The Blue Tigers also forced the Panthers into 14 turnovers.
The second half was a completely different story, however, as the Panthers scored the first nine points of the third quarter to get back into the ballgame. Principia ended up scoring 17 points in each of the final two periods while holding the Blue Tigers to 12 second-half points. The Panthers only turned the ball over four times in the second half and ended the game with a total rebounding advantage of 43-34.Â
Ayreona Carter had nine points, seven rebounds and a steal for the Blue Tigers while
Chase Giddings provided six points, three steals, two boards and an assist.
Kiara Cabrera tallied four points, two takeaways, two rebounds and an assist.
Isis Sanders, meanwhile, finished with three points and a rebound.
Biance Stocks led LU with three assists and chipped in two points while pulling down a rebound.
Lyssa Sportsman pulled down two rebounds,
Cassidy Gladney tallied two boards, two assists and a steal, and
Kaleah Toran and
Kennedy Jones each secured a rebound.
Imani Harris closed the scoring with two points and a board.
Lincoln travels to Warrensburg, Mo. on Tuesday evening (Dec. 17) to play Central Missouri at 6:00 p.m. CST.
