TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Lincoln women's basketball team scored at least 20 points in three of the game's four quarters on Thursday night (Feb. 23) as the Blue Tigers defeated Northeastern State, 76-58, for their second-straight victory.
AJ Bradley came off the bench to supply 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Aliyah Bello nearly had a double-double, finishing with nine points and 13 boards, while
Niyah Jackson tallied 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Lincoln (7-20, 5-16 MIAA) shot .500 from the field and .833 at the free throw line, shaking off a close first half by scoring 48 points in the second half. Northeastern State (6-19, 3-18 MIAA) trailed by two after the first 10 minutes and held a 29-28 lead at halftime, but the Blue Tigers came out of halftime hot, out-scoring the RiverHawks, 25-12, in the third period. Lincoln shot .563 in the third quarter, but was even hotter in the fourth, shooting at a .636 clip while keeping the lead in double-digits for most of the period.
Ashlyn Alloway provided 13 points, five rebounds and two assists to the winning cause, and
Miriam Bazylewicz scored seven while dishing a team-high six assists, blocking a shot and grabbing two rebounds.
Kelsey Mitchell had two points and a steal, and
Saniya Simmons closed out LU with eight points, five boards and four assists. Lincoln out-rebounded Northeastern State, 42-31, and forced the RiverHawks into 13 turnovers.
The win was the second in a row for the Blue Tigers, who beat Emporia State, 75-71, in their final home game of 2022-23 last Saturday (Feb. 18). That win gave LU its first sweep over an MIAA opponent since the 2018-19 season. Lincoln beat Northeastern State, 61-57, in Jefferson City on Jan. 14, meaning that, with Thursday's win in the rematch, LU has now swept multiple MIAA opponents in a season for the first time since 2014-15.
Lincoln will have an opportunity to make it three sweeps in a season on Saturday (Feb. 25) when the Blue Tigers visit Claremore, Okla. to play Rogers State at 3:30 p.m. CST. The Blue Tigers won the first meeting between the two teams, 73-56, in Jason Gym on Jan. 12.
