JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -
Ashlyn Alloway led all players with 20 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Washburn, 75-58, on Thursday (Feb. 16).
Alloway also had two assists, a steal and a block while
Aliyah Bello finished with 13 points and
Niyah Jackson added eight. Jackson also totaled two rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Washburn (11-14, 7-12 MIAA) led by 21 at halftime and shot .490 for the game, including .462 from three-point range. Lincoln (5-20, 3-16 MIAA) shot .438 from the floor during the final quarter, part of a furious rally that allowed LU to pull within 12 entering the game's final minute, but the Ichabods held the Blue Tigers to .317 shooting for the contest.
Lincoln forced Washburn into 16 turnovers, leading to 17 points, and only gave the ball away seven times. The Blue Tigers ended the night with seven steals and four blocks, though Washburn won the rebounding battle, 46-27.
AJ Bradley and
Miriam Bazylewicz each chipped in five points, with Bradley also contributing two rebounds, a pair of steals and a team-high three assists. Bazylewicz grabbed two boards and notched a steal, and
Kelsey Mitchell finish with four points, five boards and a steal. Rounding out the Blue Tigers was
Saniya Simmons with three points, two rebounds, a block and an assist.
Lincoln will close its 2022-23 home slate on Saturday (Feb. 18) by hosting Emporia State at 1:00 p.m. CST.
