Richardson, Robinson & Yetna Lead LU in Exhibition


ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Three players scored in double figures for the Lincoln men's basketball team in the Blue Tigers' preseason exhibition game at Saint Louis on Wednesday night (Nov. 8). The game counted for the Billikens, which won the contest, 102-66.

DJ Richardson, who had two assists and a rebound, and Franck Yetna, who finished with four boards and a pair of steals, each scored 14 points while shooting .500 from the floor. Tyson Robinson led the Blue Tigers with 15 points and dished two assists to go with a rebound and a steal.

Saint Louis (2-0) scored the first points of the night on a triple, but Elijah Farr later knocked down a shot from long range to tie score up at 5-5. The Billikens responded with a 15-0 run, however, and built a 54-22 lead heading into halftime. Farr had six rebounds and an assist to go with four points on the evening.

Lincoln played Saint Louis much tougher in the second half, with SLU holding a slim 48-44 advantage in points scored over the final 20 minutes. The Blue Tigers shot .452 overall and .455 from three-point range in the second half. LU ended the night with a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounding, resulting in 13 second chance points for the Blue Tigers.

Caleb Wright led Lincoln with seven rebounds, Arash Yaqubi pulled down three and Clay Butler added an assist and a steal to Lincoln cause. Peyton Williams tallied seven points and two rebounds while Jose Roberto Tanchyn added two points and five rebounds.

Bronson Borlace and Sam Rautins each blocked shots, with Borlace also contributing four points and five rebounds. Rautins had two assists to go with three points, a steal and a rebound. Tyvin Garrison, meanwhile, rounded out LU with three points and three boards.

Lincoln officially opens its 2023-24 campaign at the GAC/MIAA Challenge, which will be played in Fort Smith, Ark. this weekend. Lincoln takes on Harding on Friday (Nov. 10) at 5:30 p.m. CST before playing Ouachita Baptist on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 6:00 p.m. CST.
