THE TIP OFF: 
The season kicks into a new gear this week as the Lincoln women's basketball team begins its final conference season as a member of the MIAA. League play officially opens on Thursday night (Nov. 30) as the Blue Tigers play Newman in Wichita, Kan. at 5:30 p.m. CST. Lincoln then travels to Edmond, Okla. to play Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Dec. 2) at 1:30 p.m. CST. Both Newman and Central Oklahoma are 1-5 entering the week. Lincoln, meanwhile, is 3-2 on the season after going 2-1 in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. The Blue Tigers rolled to a 101-59 home win vs. Baptist Bible on Nov. 17, then played two games in Springfield, Mo. as part of the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center Classic. LU beat Truman State, 85-73, on Nov. 21, but dropped an 86-49 decision to Drury on Nov. 22.

FAST BREAKS

- On Thursday, Lincoln and Newman will meet for the 14th time, with the Jets leading the series, 8-5.

- LU played NU in Jefferson City last season, with the Jets prevailing, 74-67, in overtime.

- Lincoln and Central Oklahoma will meet for the 15th time on Saturday, with UCO leading the series, 12-2. The Blue Tigers' last victory over UCO was in 1994-95.

- Central Oklahoma beat Lincoln in Jefferson City last year, 96-75.

PREVIEWING THE BLUE TIGERS: 
Leading the Blue Tigers in both scoring (16.6) and rebounding (7.6) is Ashlyn Alloway, who also has six steals and six blocks. Steph Torres averages 13.6 points as well as a team-high 3.6 assists while Tatiana Beaumont is next on the scoring chart with 7.2 ppg. Saniya Simmons averages 3.5 assists and 6.8 points, Biance Stocks is averaging 7.0 points, and Imani Jones is tallying 6.6 points and 3.6 boards.

HEAD COACH ANDREA MIZE: 
Andrea Mize is in her fourth year as the head coach at Lincoln after a successful two-year run at Central Florida College. In 2019-20, Mize led CFC to a 19-win year that included a victory in the first round of the FCSAA playoffs. Mize previously was an assistant at Martin Methodist, helping the program reach the NAIA national tournament three times.

LAST TIME OUT

Lincoln 101, Baptist Bible 59

Ashlyn Alloway scored 25 points, Steph Torres scored 13 and Tatiana Beaumont finished with 15 points as Lincoln won its home opener, 101-59, over Baptist Bible on Friday, Nov. 17. Hanne Nybo contributed seven rebounds and five assists while Saniya Simmons dished six assists, Kiara Cabrera scored 11 points and Imani Jones blocked a pair of shots.

Lincoln 85, Truman State 73

Steph Torres poured in 21 points and dished five assists to lead Lincoln to an 85-73 neutral site win over Truman State on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Imani Jones added 13 points and Ashlyn Alloway and AJ Bradley each scored 10 while Biance Stocks had 11 points.

#17 Drury 86, Lincoln 49

Drury, ranked No. 17 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll, shot .611 from the floor to beat the Blue Tigers, 86-49, on its home court on Wednesday, Nov. 22. LU was led by Ashlyn Alloway, who had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE JETS: 
Valeriya Lioukina and Amiya Josey are tied for the team-lead in scoring with 10.5 points per game, and Lioukina tallies 6.3 rebounds per contest, placing her second on the team behind Delainey Wylie's average of 6.8 rebounds. Carissa Beck dishes a team-high 2.0 assists per night and is third in scoring with 8.0 points per game.

NU HEAD COACH AMY BRIGGS: 
The first-year head coach of Newman joined the program after helping Truman State go 46-26 as an assistant the previous two years. Briggs, who was an all-GLVC player at TSU, began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Missouri Valley, and then helped produce five all-conference and one all-region players at Central College.

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS: 
The top scorers for Central Oklahoma are Karly Wadsworth (12.0 ppg.) and Reagan Fox (11.0) while Alena Wilson and Aliyah Llanusa each average a team-high 4.8 rebounds. Natalie Stice is third in scoring with 6.7 points per contest as UCO averages 67.3 points per game as a team.

UCO HEAD COACH EMMA ANDREWS: 
A native of Australia, Andrews is in her second year at Central Oklahoma following a successful six-year run at Cameron. Andrews led Cameron to five Lone Star Conference tournament appearances as well as a trip to the NCAA Division II tourney in 2020-21. Andrews led UCO to 11 victories in her first season as head coach.

TOP-FOUR:
AJ Bradley has excelled at getting to the line, as, in four years at Lincoln, she has attempted 369 free throws. Bradley has made 251 of those attempts and has moved into fourth place all-time in program history in total career made free throws. She passed Shara Tauai, who made 244 free throws between 2001-04. Bradley is now seven free throws away from third place, held by Sheila Lee, who made 257 shots at the line from 1982-85.

TORR DE FORCE: 
Steph Torres, who leads Lincoln with 3.6 assists per game, has emerged as LU's second-leading scorer with 13.6 points per night. Her play has helped LU post the 48th-best offensive attack in Division II, as the Blue Tigers average 74.8 points as a team. Torres has the nation's 60th-best assist-to-turnover ratio (+3.0) and her three-point percentage of .435 ranks 77th.

ALL-COURT ALLOWAY: 
Ashlyn Alloway leads the Blue Tigers on both sides of the court, emerging as LU's best player on both offense and defense. Alloway averages 16.6 points as well as 7.6 rebounds, both of which are team highs. Alloway is also making her presence on the court felt with six steals, five assists and six blocks, and she is shooting .537 from the field.

DECEMBER TO REMEMBER: 
Lincoln will get to enjoy a lot of home cooking in December, as four of LU's five games that month will be played in the friendly confines of Jason Gym. The Blue Tigers, who had just one home game in November, open December at Central Oklahoma before playing four-straight games in Jefferson City.
