SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Hot shooting and tough defense helped Drury hand the Lincoln women's basketball team an 86-49 loss on Wednesday night (Nov. 22). The game was the second of two contests for LU at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center Thanksgiving Classic.
Ashlyn Alloway turned in a double-double, leading LU with 13 points and 10 rebounds while also notching a steal and an assist.
Kiara Cabrera scored eight points,
Biance Stocks chipped in seven and
Saniya Simmons and
Steph Torres each finished with five apiece.
Drury (5-0), which entered the week ranked No. 17 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll, shot .611 overall and .500 from three-point range to hand the Blue Tigers their second loss of the season. Lincoln (3-2) was held to .276 shooting overall and .111 from long distance, though the Blue Tigers did force the Panthers into 16 turnovers while committing only nine themselves. Lincoln had nine steals, including two by
AJ Bradley, who also finished with four points, three rebounds and an assist.
Heaven Shockley and
Alyssa McCarty each pulled down rebounds,
Hanne Nybo had a board and a steal, and
Imani Jones finished with three points, a pair of steals and two rebounds.
Tatiana Beaumont rounded out Lincoln with four points and a rebound.
Lincoln will open MIAA play on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Wichita, Kan. when the Blue Tigers play Newman at 5:30 p.m. CST.
