ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team outscored Missouri Western 20-13 in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short as the Blue Tigers dropped a 65-54 decision on Thursday evening (Jan. 19).
AJ Bradley led the Blue Tigers with 13 points and dished three assists to go with two boards and a steal.
Le'Yanna McGinnis tallied four takeaways and four rebounds while scoring six points, and
Kelsey Mitchell had a team-high five rebounds, nine points and a pair of assists.
Missouri Western (16-4, 10-2 MIAA) led from start to finish, shooting .489 from the field and .474 from three-point range. Lincoln (5-12, 3-8 MIAA) scored 24 points off 20 MWSU turnovers and shot .700 at the line, but shot .345 from the floor and .318 from long range. Both teams collected 32 rebounds, and Lincoln received 23 points from its bench. During LU's fourth quarter comeback, the Blue Tigers shot .412 overall and .800 at the charity stripe.
NIyah Jackson and
Saniya Simmons each scored seven, with Jackson adding four rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
Miriam Bazylewicz had three points, three boards and a steal, and
Aliyah Bello finished with three points and a pair of rebounds.
Ayreona Carter blocked a shot and made a free throw,
Ashlyn Alloway chipped in three points and
Mercy Gonzalez provided two points, four rebounds and two assists.
Lincoln will remain on the road to play Northwest Missouri on Saturday (Jan. 21) in Maryville, Mo. at 1:30 p.m. CST.
