THE KICKOFF
It's Homecoming weekend at Lincoln University, and the Blue Tiger football team will participate in the festivities by hosting Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Oct. 1). Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CDT, and tickets to the game will include admission into the university's tailgate party, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. CDT.

Lincoln will play for its first win of 2022 after dropping a 38-10 decision to Northeastern State on the road last Saturday (Sept. 24). Central Oklahoma is 2-2 on the year, but is coming off a huge 23-14 home win over nationally-ranked Northwest Missouri last weekend.

QUICK HITS
- This will be the fifth time that Lincoln and Central Oklahoma will face one another. UCO won each of the previous four meetings.

- The teams first met in 2012, with the Bronchos winning, 56-25, in UCO's only prior trip to Jefferson City. In 2013, Lincoln took the Bronchos down to the wire before falling, 49-42 in Edmond. Last year, the teams again played in Edmond, with Central Oklahoma prevailing, 69-28.

- The Blue Tigers are seeking a Homecoming win for the second time in the last three seasons. In 2019, Lincoln notched a 27-9 win over Northeastern State in Lincoln's annual game during Homecoming weekend.

- The Blue Tigers enter this weekend with an all-time record of 261-478-25.

- Jermaine Gales was named the head coach of the Blue Tigers in the fall of 2021, and is in his first season leading the Blue Tigers. He enters the week with an overall and LU record of 0-4.

- Lincoln is in its third-consecutive year, and its 26th overall as a football-playing member of the MIAA. The Blue Tigers, who were an associate member of the GLVC from 2014-18, previously played in the MIAA from 1970-89 and again from 2011-13. The MIAA is the fifth different conference in which the Blue Tigers have been a member, joining the Midwest Athletic Association, the Great Lakes Football Conference, the Central States Football League and the GLVC.

- This is the 91st season of Lincoln football. The Blue Tigers first fielded a team in 1920 and played every year until 1943, when Lincoln took a year off due to World War II. LU then played each season from 1944-1989. The football program was disbanded at that point, but was brought back in 2000.
