JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Lincoln University student-athletes once again impressed both in the classroom and in competition during the 2021-22 school year.

LU student-athletes posted a combined grade point average of 3.18 in 2021-22, with 83 student-athletes posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. That includes 22 athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 average. The academic success was notable at Lincoln's spring commencement ceremony, as 25 Blue Tigers graduated in May.
In addition to the individual success, LU's teams continued to do well academically. Four programs finished the school year with grade point averages higher than 3.0: women's golf (3.6), softball (3.4), women's basketball (3.3) and women's track & field (3.2).
The 2021-22 season was also a strong one in the realm of competition for LU, with Blue Tiger programs making four appearances in NCAA Division II championship events, with Lincoln producing three individual national titles. Throughout the course of the year, 20 Blue Tigers earned All-American awards, with
Kizan David additionally being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American first team.
The Blue Tigers combined to win 10 MIAA individual championships, with
Reuben Nichols and
Kelly-Ann Beckford sweeping the league's High Point Awards at the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Lincoln athletes also combined to earn 21 all-region awards this past year.
The Lincoln University Department of Athletics also continued to expand its partnerships at both local and national levels. This includes the department receiving in excess of $500,000 cash, the most-ever contributed to Lincoln athletics in a single season. Blue Tiger football received a $150,000 gift, the largest-ever in program history.
Lincoln became the first MIAA program to partner with Opendorse to provide its student-athletes with access to Name, Likeness and Image opportunities. The Blue Tiger Athletics Club grew to over 500 members, and Lincoln established partnerships with JP Capital Management and Teamworks.
