COLUMBIA, Mo. - Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored 32 runs in a neutral site game against Harris Stowe on Monday morning (Feb. 21). When the Division I Golden Lions played the Lincoln softball team, however, they scored zero.
The Blue Tigers won both of their first two home games of the season on Monday, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 3-0, and beating Harris Stowe, 23-0. In the first game of the day,
Jordan Galliher pitched a gem, allowing only two hits while striking out 10 Golden Lion batters for her first victory as a Blue Tiger.
The game was deadlocked at zero heading into the fourth inning, and the first two LU batters struck out.
Alivia Rymer hit a double into centerfield, however, and
Makenna Branch entered the game as a pinch runner. After advancing to third on a passed ball, Branch scored what proved to be the winning run on a base hit by
Alex Miller.
Lincoln (2-4) kept UAPB off the scoreboard the next two frames, and added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. After Rymer and Miller each singled,
Kori Bullard hit a double to push the LU lead to 3-0. The Blue Tigers then forced Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-5) to go three-up, three-down in the top of the seventh to clinch their first victory of 2022.
Rymer went 3-for-3 at the plate and Bullard had a pair of hits while
Aidan Dayberry scored a run and
Emma Rakes tallied a hit.
Leah Wagner led the Lincoln defense with 10 putouts while Chloe Olsen was next with six. Rymer and
Jacqueline Marquez each turned two assists.
In its second game of the day, Lincoln totaled 17 hits while allowing only one as the Blue Tigers beat Harris Stowe (0-5).
Jacqueline Marquez and Rymer each scored four runs while Bullard and
Leslie Callahan each scored three times. Olsen finished with three hits and three RBI, and
Katie Blair had two RBI on two hits.
Emily Williams added two hits, two RBI and two runs, and Branch and Rakes each had hits. Miller and
Qwynn Marquez both drove in a pair of runs, and
Jalia Callaway finished the day with two runs and two RBI. Wagner also had an RBI in the win.
Dayberry and
Maddie Welker each rang up two strikeouts in the circle, while
Ashton Stalling, who got the win, and
Hannah Clark had one strikeout apiece.Â
The Blue Tigers will host Stephens on Tuesday (Feb. 22) in a 1:00 p.m. CST double-header.
