BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lincoln women's basketball team played its first-ever game in the state of Florida on Monday afternoon (Nov. 21), but it was the opponent, Lynn, who ended up prevailing with a 65-42 decision.
The Fighting Knights shot .500 from the floor, including .818 in the third quarter as Lynn (3-1) pulled away for the victory. Lynn also fired at a .462 clip from three-point range while allowing Lincoln (1-2) to shoot just .133 from long distance. The Blue Tigers shot .857 at the line, but .362 for the contest. Defensively, Lincoln forced Lynn into 20 turnovers, but scored just 10 points on those takeaways.
Le'Yanna McGinnis finished in double figures with a team-high 10 points, and secured six rebounds to go with an assist.
Kelsey Mitchell blocked two shots and matched
Niyah Jackson with eight points while
AJ Bradley scored six to go with a block and a pair of rebounds.
Aliyah Bello came off the bench to provide four boards, three assists and a steal.
Saniya Simmons dished a team-best four assists and chipped in two points while also tallying three rebounds and three steals.
Ashlyn Alloway added four points, four boards and two takeaways, and
Miriam Bazylewicz rounded out the scoring with four points and three rebounds.
Mercy Gonzalez, who registered a pair of steals, and
Aysia Arrowood also represented the Blue Tigers on Monday.
Lincoln remains in the Sunshine State on Tuesday (Nov. 22) to play Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla. at 5:30 p.m. CST.
