Ayreona Carter scored 23 points and
Niyah Jackson chipped in 13, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Fort Hays State, 92-57, on Saturday (Jan. 8).
Fort Hays State (13-1, 7-1 MIAA) entered the week ranked No. 3 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division II poll, and played the part on Saturday. FHSU shot .493 from the floor and .462 from three-point land as well as .800 at the free throw line. Lincoln (4-10, 0-8 MIAA) shot .824 at the line, but was limited to .357 shooting overall.Â
Carter had seven rebounds and a block while
Niyah Jackson dished six assists and notched a steal.
Ashtin Ingram pulled down four rebounds and blocked three shots to go with two steals, and
Kylie Bernskoetter collected four boards while
Deija Jackson had two.
Aliyah Bello was third for LU in scoring, as she finished with seven points and three boards.
Bailey Lewis provided five points, and
Kelsey Mitchell scored three while tallying a pair of steals.
Mercy Gonzalez dished an assist while contributing five rebounds and two points.
Haylie Holloway added a free throw, and
AJ Bradley scored three points.
Lincoln returns home on Thursday (Jan. 13) to host Newman at 5:30 p.m. CST.
