KEARNEY, Neb. -
Mekhi Kimble led the Lincoln men's basketball team with 17 points, but the Blue Tigers fell to Nebraska Kearney, 87-69, on Monday afternoon (Jan. 31).
Josh Wallace collected six rebounds while scoring 12 points and dishing three assists, and
Chuck Wilson had a team-high eight rebounds to go with 10 points, two assists and a steal.
Derrick Woods supplied nine points and four boards, and
John Gaines scored eight while
Destan Williams finished with six points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Nebraska Kearney (8-12, 4-10 MIAA) took advantage of a strong shooting performance to lead from start to finish, with the Lopers shooting .582 from the field and .421 from long range. Lincoln (1-16, 0-12 MIAA) shot .466 overall and .750 at the free throw line, and had a 30-29 advantage in rebounding. The Blue Tigers turned 10 offensive rebounds into 14 second chance points, and forced the Lopers into committing 10 turnovers.
Mark Boland had a block and a rebound to go with three points,
Ni'Sean Rigmaiden ended the day with two points and a pair of rebounds, and
Yaniel Vidal tallied two points, a steal and a rebound.
Alafia Oluwasogo, who had a steal, and
Arash Yaqubi also represented the Blue Tigers on the court.
Having wrapped up a five-game road trip, the Blue Tigers will return home to face Missouri Southern on Thursday (Feb. 3) in Jason Gym at 7:30 p.m. CST.
