PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Lincoln women's basketball team out-scored Pittsburg State by 13 in the fourth quarter, but the Gorillas managed to hold on for a 72-54 victory on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6).
Three Blue Tigers scored in double figures, with
AJ Bradley and
Niyah Jackson each tallying 12 points. Bradley also grabbed six rebounds, recorded five steals and dished three assists while Jackson finished with a four boards, two takeaways and a team-high four assists.
Aliyah Bello joined Bradley and Jackson in double figures, scoring 11 while securing four rebounds and registering three steals.
Ashtin Ingram blocked three shots and pulled down six rebounds to go with eight points.
A big first half was the key to the win for Pittsburg State (11-6, 11-6 MIAA), as the Gorillas scored 20 points in the first period and 23 in the second to take a 43-22 advantage into halftime. Pittsburg State came out strong in the second half, out-scoring the Blue Tigers by 10 in the third quarter.
Lincoln (1-15, 1-15 MIAA) ended the game well, shooting .563 from the field and .500 from long distance in the final quarter. The Blue Tigers scored 24 points in the fourth quarter while limiting Pittsburg State to just 11. Over the course of the second half, LU held PSU to just .286 shooting from the floor while Lincoln shot .414.
Virja Lewis came off the bench to provide three points and two rebounds while
Vivian Chigbu,
Simone Jordan,
Haylie Holloway and
Kiara Cadore each chipped in two points apiece. Chigbu and Jordan also each had four rebounds, while Holloway tallied a rebound, an assist and a steal.
Lincoln closes a three-game road trip next Thursday (Feb. 11) with a trip to Emporia, Kan. to play Emporia State at 6:00 p.m. CST.
