HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Lincoln softball team drove in two runs in the top of the fifth, but Young Harris, ranked No. 6 in the National Association of Fastpitch Coaches' Division II preseason poll, got the better of the Blue Tigers with a 10-2 win on Friday (Feb. 5).
Tressa Hughes had both of the RBI for Lincoln (1-1), as her base hit in the top of the fifth plated both
Jordan Hollon and
Jordan Lawson. Hollon got on base with a single, and Lawson was issued a walk before a ground out advanced both runners into scoring position.
The rest of the offense for the contest belonged to Young Harris (2-0), which took advantage of nine hits and three errors to plate 10 runs, five of which were unearned.
Ashton Stalling and Hughes split time in the circle for LU, with each player notching a strikeout.
Defensively, Lawson led Lincoln with four putouts,
Emily Williams was responsible for three and
Leslie Callahan, Hollon and
Sara Williams each had two apiece.
Sara Williams, Callahan and
Bekah Kirker all recorded an assist.
Lincoln remains in Huntsville, Ala. for day two of the Charger Chillout on Saturday (Feb. 6), as the Blue Tigers play Kentucky Wesleyan at 11:00 a.m. CST and West Alabama at 2:00 p.m. CST.
