Blue Tigers Ground Jets on Senior Night


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Five members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures as the Blue Tigers cruised to an 80-62 win over Newman on Thursday (Feb. 25). 

It was the last home game of the regular season for LU as well as Senior Night, with a ceremony held prior to the game honoring Lamont Ballard, Jr., Jordan Notch, Cameron Potts and Ni'Sean Rigmaiden. Potts and Notch each ended up scoring 10 points, with Potts also contributing 11 assists, five rebounds and three steals. Notch grabbed four rebounds and had a block.

Lincoln (12-9, 12-9 MIAA) scored the first 10 points of the game and made eight treys in the first half, shooting .500 beyond the arc and .586 overall through the first 20 minutes. LU held a 45-27 lead at halftime, and would take an advantage of as many as 22 points early in the second half. The Blue Tigers turned 21 Jet turnovers into 31 points and held Newman (3-18, 3-18 MIAA) to just .350 shooting from long distance.

Sai Witt led all players with 16 points and pulled down four rebounds, recorded two steals and dished a pair of assists. Quinton Drayton and Derrick Woods had 11 points apiece, with Drayton also tallying three boards, two assists, a pair of steals and a block. Woods also had a block and grabbed four rebounds.

Ballard had eight points and a steal, and Charles Wilson finished with nine points and two takeaways. Yaniel Vidal came off the bench to provide three points, three assists and three steals, while Arash Yaqubi closed the scoring with two points. 

Lincoln will close the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 27) in Warrensburg, Mo., when the Blue Tigers play Central Missouri at 3:00 p.m. CST.
