Hya Haywood matched the game-high with 16 points and
Imani Jones scored 14, but the Lincoln women's basketball team dropped an 88-60 decision to Pittsburg State on Wednesday evening (Dec. 15).
Haywood additionally had a steal, four rebounds and four assists, and Jones added four boards and a pair of steals as LU forced PSU into 13 turnovers.
Mercy Gonzalez also had a steal and led all players with eight rebounds, and
Haylie Holloway dished three assists to go with six points and a takeaway.
Pittsburg State (8-2, 4-1 MIAA) took advantage of a big first half, as the Gorillas scored 28 points in the opening stanza and 22 in the second. Pittsburg State was hot from three-point range, shooting .600 for the evening, while Lincoln (4-6, 0-4 MIAA) was held to .375 shooting from the field.Â
AJ Bradley chipped in 12 points, collected four rebounds and notched two steals while dishing an assist.
Ashtin Ingram blocked two shots and scored five points while pulling down two rebounds, and
Ayreona Carter finished with four points, three boards and a block.
Aliyah Bello and
Le'Yanna McGinnis each had a rebound, and
Kylie Bernskoetter rounded out the Blue Tigers with three points, four boards and an assist.
Lincoln will close the 2021 calendar year in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday (Dec. 18) with a 1:30 p.m. CST game against Missouri Southern.
