Blue Tigers Fall to Maryville


ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team shot .421 from beyond the arc and .400 overall, but the Blue Tigers fell to Maryville, 82-55, on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 24). The game was the second for Lincoln as part of the Maryville Thanksgiving Classic.

Mekhi Kimble led the Blue Tigers with 14 points and had three steals to go with three rebounds and a pair of assists. Two other LU players scored in double figures, including Ni'Sean Rigmaiden, who finished the game with 11 points, and John Gaines, who scored 10 to go with three boards and two assists.

Lincoln (0-4) held Maryville (5-1) to just .360 shooting from three-point range, but the Saints made up for the difference in the interior, posting 40 points in the paint while shooting .508 from the floor. The Saints held a 33-29 advantage on the glass, but the Blue Tigers forced 13 turnovers, leading to 14 LU points.

Chuck Wilson added seven points, three rebounds and a steal to the Lincoln cause, and Destan Williams dished seven assists while grabbing five rebounds, scoring three points and registering a pair of steals. Derrick Woods led Lincoln with seven rebounds and chipped in two points, and Josh Wallace also had two points to go with a block and three boards.

Alafia Oluwasogo and Arash Yaqubi rounded out the scoring with three points apiece, with Oluwasogo additionally blocking a shot and pulling down a rebound. Mark Boland also had a rebound in Wednesday's game.

The Blue Tigers will close out the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday (Nov. 30) as Lincoln hosts Central Christian at 7:00 p.m. CST.
