TOPEKA, Kan. - The Lincoln women's basketball team forced 18 turnovers, but fell to Washburn, 73-49, on Tuesday evening (Jan. 19).
AJ Bradley and
Haylie Holloway each had a pair of steals, with Bradley scoring a team-high nine points to go with three rebounds.
Vivian Chigbu finished with eight points and six rebounds, while
Virja Lewis also had six boards to go with seven points and a block.
Ashtin Ingram, who supplied four points and three rebounds, also had a block.
Washburn (5-5, 5-5 MIAA) used a stifling defense to earn the win, holding Lincoln (0-10, 0-10 MIAA) to .288 from the field while winning the rebounding battle, 46-34. The Blue Tigers allowed the Ichabods to shoot just .269 beyond the arc, but WU got 26 points from its bench en route to the victory.
Holloway, who chipped in four points, also dished two assists, and
Kiara Cadore contributed five points and three boards to the Lincoln cause.
Niyah Jackson finished with seven points and four rebounds, and
Simone Jordan scored four while
Aliyah Bello rounded out the scoring with a free throw.
Lincoln begins a four-game homestand on Thursday (Jan. 21) when the Blue Tigers host Rogers State at 5:30 p.m. CST.
