TOPEKA, Kan. - A hot-shooting first half by Washburn proved too much for the Lincoln women's basketball team to overcome as the Blue Tigers fell to the Ichabods, 85-56, on Saturday (Feb. 22).
Alecia Gulledge nearly had a double-double, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Natasha Elliott led Lincoln with 14 points while
Vivian Chigbu added eight points, six boards and a team-high four assists.
Washburn (16-10, 10-7 MIAA) shot .765 from the field and .750 from three-point range in the first quarter, building a 58-29 lead at halftime. Lincoln (3-23, 0-17 MIAA) started the game well, leading for much of the first four minutes, but ended the day shooting .349 from the field. Both teams had 35 rebounds, and Lincoln forced Washburn into 14 turnovers, but committed 19 themselves.
Kaloni Pryear contributed eight points and two assists,
Kiara Shoulders added seven points and a pair of steals, and
Virja Lewis had five points to go with three rebounds and two assists.
Natasha Dolinsky rounded out the scoring with five points and three boards, and
Nia McCaskill represented LU with a rebound.
Lincoln will remain on the road for its final two games of 2019-20, beginning on Wednesday (Feb. 26) with a 5:30 p.m. CST contest in Pittsburg, Kan. against Pittsburg State.
