TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -
Alafia Oluwasogo led four Blue Tigers in double figures, but the Lincoln men's basketball team fell to Northeastern State, 90-71, on Thursday night (Jan. 23).
Oluwasogo scored 12 points while
Joe Davis and
Cameron Potts each finished with 11 points and three rebounds.
Jonell Burton added 10 points, three steals and three boards, while
L'Kielynn Taylor, who led LU with 10 rebounds, tallied five points and a block.
Northeastern State (13-6, 6-4 MIAA) set the pace with a big first half, shooting .533 from the field and .471 from three-point range en route to a 52-36 lead. LU's defense tightened up in the second half, holding the RiverHawks to .250 shooting from beyond the arc and 38 points. Lincoln (7-10, 4-4 MIAA) shot .429 from the floor and out-scored NSU inside the paint, 34-28.
Lamont Ballard, Jr. scored seven points and
Zack Fields made a free throw, with both players also dishing a team-high three assists.
Marcel Burton chipped in five points,
Marcus Cohen added four and
DJ Ward finished with three points while
DaMani Jarrett closed the scoring with two points and three rebounds.
Jordan Notch also represented Lincoln with an assist.
The Blue Tigers will travel to Claremore, Okla. on Saturday (Jan. 25) for their first-ever game against Rogers State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CST.
