Natasha Dolinsky led the Lincoln women's basketball team with 20 points and
Kaloni Pryear scored 19, but the Blue Tigers fell to Missouri Southern, 74-65, on Thursday night (Jan. 16).
Dolinsky made five shots from beyond the arc as Lincoln shot .333 from three-point land while holding the Lions to .143 from long distance. For the game, however, Missouri Southern shot .520 overall while holding the Blue Tigers to .318. MSSU also had a 45-34 advantage in rebounding, though LU scored 23 points off 22 Missouri Southern turnovers.
Missouri Southern (5-10, 2-5 MIAA) led for nearly the entire game, including holding a 17-14 advantage after the first period. The Blue Tigers tied the game early on in the period, but 43 second-half points allowed the Lions to stave off a Blue Tiger comeback. Dolinsky finished the night with an assist, a steal and a block, and Pryear led LU with eight assists while notching two steals and four rebounds.
Vivian Chigbu and
Alecia Gulledge each grabbed eight rebounds, with Chigbu also contributing eight points and two assists. Gulledge had a pair of blocks to go with four points and a steal, and
Natasha Elliott finished with six points and a steal. Lincoln (3-12, 0-6 MIAA) had nine takeaways on the night and posted a 17-11 advantage on the offensive glass, leading to 17 second-chance points.
Virja Lewis added five points and three boards to the Blue Tiger cause, and
Nia McCaskill closed the scoring with three points, two boards and a pair of steals.
Lincoln will be back in Jason Gym on Saturday (Jan. 18) as the Blue Tigers host Pittsburg State in a 1:00 p.m. CST contest.
