Blue Tigers Drop Two to Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Lincoln softball tallied 15 hits, but fell to Drury in a pair of games on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 24).

The Blue Tigers dropped the first game, 10-2, after Drury (7-4) scored six runs in the second inning en route to a 10-0 lead. Both of the Lincoln (0-10) runs came in the top of the fifth, starting with a base hit from Mykenzie Livesay that scored Tori Nienhueser from third. Later in the frame, a single by Jordan Lawson moved Emily Williams into scoring position, and a Lady Panther error allowed Williams to score.

Camryn Pryor went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Blue Tiger offense, and Williams also had a hit during the contest. Starting pitched Hannah Hennessy fanned two Drury batters, and Lawson led the LU defense with three putouts.

In the second game of the afternoon, Drury used 16 hits to beat the Blue Tigers, 17-1. Lincoln's run came in the third, which Hennessy led off with a double. Nienhueser later brought her home with a double.

Bekah Kirker, Trista Heavin and Rachael Balke each had hits in the night cap, while Nienhueser and Shannon Greene each had an assist on defense. Heavin led LU with five putouts, and Gabi McGinty was responsible for four.

Up next for the Blue Tigers will be the National HBCU Softball Classic in Langston, Okla. where LU will play Grambling State and Jarvis on March 1 before taking on Jarvis and Prairie View A&M on March 2.
