ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Missouri-St. Louis out-scored the Lincoln men's basketball team by 14 points in the second half to hand the Blue Tigers a 76-59 loss in the UMSL Thanksgiving Classic on Wednesday (Nov. 27).
Cameron Potts led LU with 15 points and dished six assists to go with six rebounds and two steals.
Marcel Burton provided 13 points and
Jonell Burton finished with seven points, three boards and a pair of steals.
L'Kielynn Taylor led the Blue Tigers with seven rebounds and chipped in two points.
Lincoln (2-4) used a 10-3 run late in the first half to trail just 36-33 at halftime, and closed the gap to within one on a jumper by
Jordan Notch early in the second period. Missouri-St. Louis (6-1) shot .591 from the field in the second half, however, including .583 from long distance. LU, meanwhile, shot .400 from the floor for the contest.
Notch finished the afternoon with five points, four boards and a block, and
Lamont Ballard, Jr. also scored five points while
Zack Fields tallied three points and two rebounds.
Bansi King and
DJ Ward each scored three points, with King notching a rebound and a block while Ward had an assist.
Marcus Cohen came off the bench to contribute two points and two rebounds, and
DaMani Jarrett made a free throw to round out the scoring.
Joe Davis also represented Lincoln with four rebounds.
The Blue Tigers will open MIAA play on Thursday, Dec. 5 by hosting Northwest Missouri in Jefferson City at 7:30 p.m. CST.
