Bre Coleman and
Alecia Gulledge all scored in double figures as the Lincoln women's basketball team dropped a 68-56 decision to Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Jan. 26).
Dickerson led the Blue Tigers with 16 points and grabbed five rebounds to go with a steal and a block. Coleman came close to a double-double, finishing with 14 points, nine boards and two assists. Gulledge added 11 points and three assists.
Lincoln (9-9, 1-8 MIAA) led at the end of the first quarter, 14-10, but Central Oklahoma (13-7, 4-6 MIAA) out-scored the Blue Tigers, 22-10, in the second quarter to take the lead at halftime. The Blue Tigers got into some foul trouble in the second half, and played the final 5:07 of the contest with just four players on the court.
Kiara Shoulders also nearly doubled up, tallying nine points, eight rebounds, an assist and a pair of steals.
Zoi Thompson closed the scoring with six points and two assists, and
Nia McCaskill had a rebound in her first extensive playing time as a Blue Tiger.
Lincoln had one of its better three-point afternoons, shooting .444 from long distance with eight treys. UCO finished with a 45-33 advantage in rebounding, but LU forced the Bronchos into 12 turnovers, and held Central Oklahoma to .371 shooting from the field and .182 from beyond the arc.
The Blue Tigers will next play on Thursday (Jan. 31), when LU travels to Topeka, Kan. to play Washburn at 5:30 p.m. CST.
