JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team knocked down 11 three-pointers en route to a 78-65 victory over Central Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 26).
The win improves LU to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in MIAA play, while Central Oklahoma falls to 8-11 on the season and 1-9 in the conference. The win came on Lincoln's Coaches vs. Cancer day, as both the men's and women's basketball programs wore pink to support victims and survivors of cancer.
Ni'Sean Rigmaiden made three of those treys, and led the Blue Tigers with 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Terrance Smith and
Amariontez Ivory each finished with 16 points, and Smith grabbed five boards to go with a block, steal and an assist.
Lincoln shot .519 overall for the contest and .478 from three-point range, including making six of its 11 long distance calls in the first half. LU defensively held the Bronchos to just eight treys and a .333 accuracy rate from beyond the arc, though UCO did shoot .448 overall.
John Burton matched Ivory and Rigmaiden with three buckets from long range, and scored 13 points while
Jonell Burton and
Grant Olsson scored six apiece.
Jonell Burton also blocked two shots, grabbed four rebounds and dished an assist. Olsson, meanwhile, tallied three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Darrius Spencer had a rebound for LU while
L'Kielynn Taylor closed the scoring with four points and seven boards. The Blue Tigers out-rebounded Central Oklahoma, 36-26, and shot .813 from the free throw line to secure the win.
Lincoln will return to the road next week, as the Blue Tigers head to Topeka, Kan. to play Washburn on Thursday (Jan. 31) at 7:30 p.m. CST.
