BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team shot .561 from the floor and .520 from long distance to beat Southwest Baptist, 89-70, on the road on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19).
Ni'Sean Rigmaiden led LU with 26 points on 12-17 shooting and dished three assists while grabbing four rebounds.
Jonell Burton had a team-high seven rebounds as well as four assists, and scored 15 points while
Grant Olsson provided 18 points and five boards.
Lincoln (12-4, 5-2 MIAA) opened the game on a 15-5 run and finished the first half with a 48-33 advantage after shooting .559 from the floor. The Blue Tigers were even better in the second half, shooting .563 overall and .625 from three-point range as LU held off any thoughts of an SBU comeback.
Southwest Baptist (9-8, 3-5 MIAA) out-rebounded Lincoln, 35-32, but LU won the turnover battle, committing six while forcing the Bearcats into nine. Four of those turnovers were forced by
John Burton, who also scored nine points, while
Amariontez Ivory finished the day with nine points, two steals and a team-high five assists.
L'Kielynn Taylor and
Terrance Smith chipped in six points apiece, with Taylor also pulling down five rebounds.
Darrius Spencer, meanwhile, dished an assist.
After playing the last three on the road, Lincoln returns to the friendly confines of Jason Gym on Thursday night (Jan. 24) to host Northeastern State at 7:30 p.m. CST.
