JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln softball team celebrated
Kiley Kerr and
Madison Ragar on Senior Day before hosting Southwest Baptist for a double-header on Saturday (April 21). The Bearcats ended up winning both games, however, beating the Blue Tigers, 7-1, in the opener and 11-1 in the finale.
Jordan Lawson had two hits in the first game and ended the season with 50, just one shy of the single-season record. Lawson, who finished the year Lincoln's new single-season leader for doubles with 17, scored in the seventh inning on a base hit by
Camryn Pryor.
Southwest Baptist (18-33, 8-18 MIAA) scored in the top of the first inning, but that was the only offense by either team until the top of the fourth, when the Bearcats brought in two more runs. SBU later scored three times in the fifth and tacked on a seventh run in the seventh frame.
Lincoln (5-43, 0-26 MIAA) was led defensively by Lawson, Pryor and
Tori Nienhueser with four putouts apiece.
Chelsey Kerr and
Alyssa Schulte also had hits while Ragar, in her final start in the circle of her four-year Blue Tiger career, recorded three strikeouts.
In the second game,
Emily Williams scored for LU on a base hit from
Andrea Wanta in the bottom of the fifth. Southwest Baptist scored one run in each of the first three innings, however, and brought in two more runs in the fourth before ending the game with six runs in the fifth.
Kiley Kerr closed a three-year Blue Tiger career by going 2-for-2 at the plate, and
Rachael Balke and
Mykenzie Livesay also had hits. Ragar led Lincoln with eight putouts, Livesay tallied five and
Delayne Patton finished with two. Wanta recorded six assists while Livesay and Ragar finished with two apiece.
