ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Christian Brothers pulled away with three runs in the fifth inning to beat the Lincoln softball team, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3).
Jordan Lawson recorded her second RBI of the early season, scoring
Alyssa Schulte in the third inning on a single through the middle. That cut the CBU lead down to 2-1, but the Blue Tigers stranded two runners on base to end the frame.
Lincoln (0-2) tallied five hits, including two by
Rachael Balke, and one each from
Camryn Pryor and
Andrea Wanta.
Tori Nienhueser was stranded on base three times, as Christian Brothers (1-0) ultimately stranded five LU runners on the base path.
Madison Ragar started in the circle for Lincoln and notched a pair of strikeouts before
Delayne Patton fanned a batter in a closing role. Pryor and
Kiley Kerr each had four putouts apiece, followed by Balke and Lawson, who each had three. Wanta provided three assists.
Lincoln will continue the 2018 season on Sunday (Feb. 4) with games against Southern Arkansas at 9:00 a.m. CST and at Ouachita Baptist at 1:00 p.m. CST.
