Chelsey Kerr scored the first run of the day on a solo homerun in the third, but a pair of fourth inning runs gave the Lady Miners a 2-1 advantage through four.
Chelsey Kerr was also responsible for LU's next run, as, in the top of the fifth, she hit a single into left field to bring in
Kiley Kerr from second base.
Missouri S&T (5-3) regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single, but it didn't take the Blue Tigers long to force another tie.
Mykenzie Livesay reached after being hit by a pitch, took second on a single by
Emily Williams and then scored on another base hit by
Tori Nienhueser.
Another RBI single got the Lady Miners back on the board, but Lincoln (0-6) fought back to take a one-run lead in the top of the seventh. A deep base hit by
Rachael Balke brought in
Chelsey Kerr to tie the game, and a single by
Jordan Lawson scored Balke for a 5-4 LU lead.
Missouri S&T loaded the bases and then tied the game on a fielder's choice, leading to an eighth inning. The contest went into international tie-breaking procedures, with Williams starting on second base. A bunt moved her to third, and a ground out by
Kiley Kerr briefly gave Lincoln back the lead. The Lady Miners loaded the bases early in the bottom of the frame, though, and ended up pushing across the winning run.
Balke and
Chelsey Kerr each had two hits while
Camryn Pryor led Lincoln defensively with six putouts. Nienhueser and Lawson each provided four putouts, and Nienhueser and Livesay each tallied three assists.
Madison Ragar pitched the entire game, allowing just three earned runs while striking out four.
Lincoln's offensive success continued in the second game, as the Blue Tigers tallied seven hits, including two each by Nienhueser and Balke. The Lady Miners countered with 11 hits, however, including a two-run homer that broke a tie in the bottom of the third.
The Blue Tigers trailed by two entering the third frame, but loaded the bags on consecutive base hits from
Alyssa Schulte, Balke and
Kiley Kerr. Williams then provided the only two RBI of the game for Lincoln on a single through the middle to plate Schulte and Balke and tie the game at 2-2.
Lawson led the LU defense with four putouts while Schulte, Nienhueser,
Chelsey Kerr and
Kiley Kerr each were credited with three. Nienhueser and
Delayne Patton each turned two assists, with Patton notching a strikeout while throwing the complete game.
The Blue Tigers will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 24, when Lincoln opens its 2018 home slate by hosting Stephens for a double-header at 1:00 p.m. CST.
