Blue Tigers Sweep the Lions With 79-64 Win


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team shot .564 overall and .500 from three-point range to beat Lindenwood, 79-64, for the second time in four days on Tuesday night (Feb. 13).

Lincoln, which also beat the Lions in St. Charles, 67-64, on Saturday (Feb. 10), improves to 14-11 overall and 8-8 in MIAA play with the victory, its sixth in its past seven contests. The win also gives the Blue Tigers a tie-breaking advantage over Lindenwood, which falls to 14-11 overall and 6-10 in league play.

Amariontez Ivory led a balanced scoring attack with 21 points and dished two assists to go with a rebound and a steal. Calvin Chambers added 12 points, 10 of which came at the free throw line, where he had just one miss the entire night, and dished three assists while leading the Blue Tigers with two steals.

Alexander Nailes led Lincoln in rebounding with nine and added six points and a steal, while John Burton finished with 10 points. Maurice Mason tallied eight points, three boards and a game-high eight assists, and Terrance Smith joined the double-digit club with 11 points, six boards and a block.

Grant Olsson came off the bench to provide five points and four rebounds while Marquise Williams closed out the scoring with six points, two rebounds, a block and a steal.

Lincoln held Lindenwood to .404 shooting overall, and limited the Lions to just .348 shooting in the first half. Lindenwood made just five treys on the evening, including only one in the first half as the Blue Tigers took a 35-22 advantage into the intermission. Lincoln, meanwhile, made seven of its 11 attempts from beyond the arc in the second half (636), and shot .750 at the free throw line to secure the win.

The Blue Tigers will try to extend their winning streak on Thursday night (Feb. 15) when Lincoln hosts Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m. CST.
