Terrance Smith had a double-double and
Jonell Burton,
Ni'Sean Rigmaiden and
Amariontez Ivory all scored in double figures as the Lincoln men's basketball team beat Ecclesia on Friday night (Nov. 30).
LU shot .500 overall, .440 from three-point range and .889 at the line to beat the Royals, 87-73, and improve to 4-2 for the third time in the past four seasons. Ecclesia shot .455 from the floor and .333 at the line, but Lincoln converted nine turnovers into 20 points to drop the Royals to 0-11 on the season.
Smith led all players with 30 points and 12 rebounds, and for the fifth-straight game had a pair of blocks.
Jonell Burton added 12 points and eight boards as well as four assists, and Rigmaiden tallied 11 points, two assists, a block and a steal.
Ivory also came close to a double-double, scoring 10 points while dishing eight assists and grabbing three rebounds.
Grant Olsson and
John Burton, meanwhile, each scored nine points, with Olsson additionally pulling down four rebounds and issuing a block.
John Burton provided a pair of assists, as well as a block and a steal.
The Blue Tigers finished with a 41-32 advantage in rebounding, and scored 12 second-chance points while limiting the Royals to four. LU also blocked five shots and registered six steals, including two takeaways by
L'Kielynn Taylor, who also had four boards and six points.
Gary Pendleton had two rebounds while
Darrius Spencer and
DJ Ward each finished with one.
TJ Babikir also represented LU on the court.
Up next for Lincoln is the start of conference play, as the Blue Tigers travel to Maryville, Mo. on Thursday (Dec. 6) to play Northwest Missouri at 7:30 p.m. CST.
