WARRENSBURG, Mo. - It was a tale of two halves on Thursday night (Jan. 18), as Central Missouri rallied from a six-point deficit at the intermission to hand the Lincoln men's basketball team a 67-57 loss.
Lincoln (8-10, 2-7 MIAA) held the Mules to just .250 shooting in the first half, including .133 from three-point range, as the Blue Tigers claimed a 27-21 lead at the break. Lincoln shot .476 from the floor over the game's first 20 minutes and held an 18-15 edge in rebounding.
The second half, however, was all Central Missouri (14-3, 6-2 MIAA) as the Mules shot .643 both overall and from three-point range while out-scoring the Blue Tigers, 67-57. UCM finished with a 32-29 advantage in rebounding and a 10-14 edge in turnovers while limiting LU to .370 shooting over the final 20 minutes.
John Burton led Lincoln offensively with 18 points and dished two assists while recording a pair of rebounds. Amariontez Ivory was next on the scoring chart with 16 points, and Calvin Chambers added 10 points, four assists, two boards and a pair of steals. Marquise Williams was the Blue Tigers' leader in rebounds (11) and finished with five points on the evening.
Maurice Mason also scored five points and tallied two steals while leading LU with five assists. Grant Olsson and Terrance Smith each grabbed four rebounds, with Olsson scoring two points and Smith making a free throw.
Lincoln will remain on the road on Saturday (Jan. 20) as the Blue Tigers travel to Bolivar, Mo. to take on Southwest Baptist at 3:30 p.m. CST.
