Jaylon Smith recorded his sixth double-double of the season, but the Lincoln men's basketball team fell to Northwest Missouri, 82-53, in the regular season finale for both squads on Saturday (Feb. 25).
Northwest Missouri (26-1, 18-1 MIAA) entered the game ranked No. 3 in the country, and held the Blue Tigers to under 30 points in each half while shooting .509 from the floor. Lincoln (16-12, 9-10 MIAA) shot .358 from the court and .269 from three-point range, and committed 11 turnovers while forcing just three. The Bearcats also held a 34-31 edge in rebounding.
Smith scored a team-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while dishing a pair of assists and registering a block.
Richie Lewis and
Deionte Wilson were next on the scoring chart with eight points apiece. Lewis additionally dished four assists and had two rebounds while Wilson tallied a rebound, a block and a steal.
Rod Ollison had four points, two boards and a block for the Blue Tigers while
Darrius Spencer added two rebounds and a block.
Alexander Nailes and
Chase Morfeld each finished with two points and two rebounds while
O'Shai Clark closed out the scoring with two points, three boards and an assist.
Kevin Bolen rounded out Lincoln's performance with a rebound.
