PITTSBURG, Kan. - Marquise Williams posted his fifth double-double of the season, but the Lincoln men's basketball team fell to Pittsburg State, 77-66, on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 9).
Williams, who has grabbed at least eight rebounds in all 10 of Lincoln's games this season, finished with 15 on Saturday to go with a game-high 23 points. He also contributed a block and an assist. Maurice Mason finished next on the scoring chart for LU, providing 12 points as well as team-highs in assists (four) and steals (three).
Pittsburg State (6-5, 1-3 MIAA) held advantages in rebounding (36-35) and turnovers (13-17) and shot .459 from the floor to secure the win. Lincoln (5-5, 0-2 MIAA) hit .407 from floor, but was held to just six buckets from long distance in 25 attempts. LU led for much of the first half, but the Gorillas used a 14-5 run to end the period and take control of the ballgame.
Terrance Smith produced nine points, seven boards, a pair of assists, a block and a steal, while Calvin Chambers also scored nine points and John Burton chipped in seven. Amariontez Ivory and Zack Fields scored three points apiece, with Ivory additionally dishing two assists.
Lincoln will return to Jefferson City next Saturday (Dec. 16) to host Emporia State in a 3:30 p.m. CST showdown.
