BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Blue Tigers got another special teams touchdown, but Southwest Baptist beat the Lincoln football team, 52-7, in the final game of 2017 for both programs on Saturday (Nov. 11).
Chavon Gross blocked an SBU punt, Lincoln's eighth total block and fifth blocked punt of the season, and Joseph Madrigal recovered the ball and ran 21 yards for the Blue Tiger touchdown in the third quarter. LU finishes the season tied for the national lead in blocked punts with three different Blue Tigers scoring punt return touchdowns.
Southwest Baptist (5-5, 4-3 GLVC) passed for 339 yards and rushed for 223 more to edge Lincoln (1-9, 0-7 GLVC). The Blue Tigers gained 118 yards on the ground, but were limited to just 63 through the air. A'Jani Johnson led LU with four receptions while Justin Korakakos was LU's leader with 31 receiving yards.
Terry Hunter gained 50 yards on the ground, Johnson added 41 and
Miles Drummond rushed for 28. Blake Tibbs, meanwhile gained 118 yards in the return game.
On defense, Edwin Durassaint led LU with 15 tackles while
Addison Tucker and Aaron Brown each made 10 apiece. JaJuan Chambers made two tackles for loss, including a sack, and
Lawrence Hogue broke up a pair of passes while recording six takedowns. Victor Williams also had a sack to go with eight tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and Isaiah Gray was credited with seven stops.
Julius Jackson additionally had a tackle for loss.
