JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln football team dropped a 45-0 decision to Indianapolis on Saturday night (Oct. 21).
Indianapolis, which is ranked No. 6 in this week's AFCA Division II poll, scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a 28-0 halftime lead, and held off the Blue Tigers through the final two quarters. Indianapolis (8-0, 5-0 GLVC) became the only team all season to throw for over 200 yards against Lincoln (1-6, 0-4 GLVC), finishing with 278 yards.
Eugene Sainterling led the Blue Tiger passing attack with 14 completions for 84 yards, while
Drake Davidson completed seven throws for 55 yards.
Blake Tibbs was the top target for both passers, as he made 10 grabs for 78 yards.
Miles Drummond was next with three catches while
Anthony Townsend and
Justin Korakakos had two receptions apiece.
Victor Williams and
Edwin Durassaint each forced fumbles, and
Jervonta Jones and
Amani Nelson each made recoveries.
Isaiah Gray had a pair of quartback hurries while
JaJuan Chambers and
Julius Jackson each had one apiece. Jackson,
Lawrence Hogue and
Joseph Madrigal each broke up passes.
The top tackler for LU was
Willard Cotton, who made 10 stops on the evening.
Addison Tucker was next with nine tackles, including 1.5 for loss.
Taj Moore finished with six tackles, and
Jordan Devine,
Victor Williams,
Aaron Brown and
Brennen DeMarco were each credited with four takedowns. Durassaint additionally had a tackle for loss.
In the kicking game,
Wolky Belancourt averaged 61 yards on kickoffs and 33.9 yards on punts.
The Blue Tigers will be back on the road next Saturday (Oct. 28), as Lincoln travels to Lebanon, Ill. to play McKendree in a 1:00 p.m. CDT contest.
