JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri pulled away late to hand the Lincoln women's basketball team a 66-41 loss on Wednesday night (Jan. 18).
The Blue Tigers trailed by 10, 30-20, at halftime, but pulled to within eight entering the fourth quarter. Central Missouri (14-2, 7-1 MIAA) shot .750 from the floor in that final quarter and out-scored Lincoln, 22-5, to earn the victory. Lincoln (2-14, 1-8 MIAA) was out-rebounded, 42-34, but tallied nine steals while forcing the Jennies into 15 turnovers.
Erica Gibbons came close to a double-double, as she led LU with 13 points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes of work.
Shamirah Johnson finished with seven rebounds and provided four points while
Azaria Nave scored nine.
Hunter Yoakum tallied six points, three assists, a pair of rebounds and two steals.
Citlali Lopez, meanwhile, finished with five points, four boards, two assists and a pair of steals.
Tempary Gunter pulled down six rebounds, and
Tyler Brown-Henderson rounded out the scoring with four points, two rebounds and a steal.
Jordan Matthews had a pair of steals to go with a block and a rebound, and
Kailey Foster also had a steal for the Blue Tigers.
Lincoln will be back in Jason Gym on Saturday (Jan. 21), as the Blue Tigers host Southwest Baptist at 1:30 p.m. CST. It will be Lincoln's annual Think Pink Day, and fans are encouraged to wear pink to join the Blue Tigers in promoting cancer awareness.
