ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team recorded seven hits, but fell to Missouri Western, 13-3, in its 2016 season finale on Saturday (May 7).
Neither team scored in the first inning, and the Blue Tigers ended up stranding a pair of base runners in the top half of the second. In the bottom of that frame, however, Missouri Western managed to score four runs on just one hit and two LU errors to take the lead for good.
Lincoln got on board in the top of the third, with 
Dillon Walker hitting a single and taking second on a wild pitch before scoring on a base hit by 
Mike Million. The Blue Tigers then forced the Griffons to go three-up, three-down in each of the next two innings, but MWSU got back on the board in the fifth with a pair of runs on two hits.
Missouri Western scored four more times in the sixth inning and plated three runs in the seventh to end the contest two frames early. The Blue Tigers' other runs came in the top of the seventh, which 
Kaleb Davis led off with a triple. A double by 
Jackson Walker scored Davis, and a sacrifice fly from 
Jeffery Jackson brought in LU's third and final run.
Jackson Walker led Lincoln with two hits while 
Zach Anderson and 
Nick Lovell each had one apiece. 
Caleb Thomas struck out a pair of Griffon batters, and Lovell led LU with four assists. Davis recorded a team-high six putouts, Million provided five and 
Dillon Walker tallied three while 
Alex Ludwick contributed two.
