ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood took advantage of a strong offensive performance to hand the Lincoln baseball team a 21-0 loss on Tuesday evening (April 26).
The game was originally scheduled to be played in Jefferson City. The thunderstorms on Tuesday made it impossible to play at LU Baseball Field, however, so the contest was moved to Lindenwood's campus, as the Lions' field was made of weather-resistant turf. As the game was initially supposed to be played on Lincoln's campus, however, the Blue Tigers served as the home team.
Lincoln (1-42, 0-33 MIAA) was held to just two hits, one each by
Nick Lovell and
Mike Million. After a scoreless first inning, Lindenwood (20-24, 14-19 MIAA) plated seven runs in the top of the second, and ended up scoring multiple times in all but one of the ensuing five frames.
Daniel Castillo,
Cameron Massman and
Kyler Lundgrin each registered strikeouts on the mound for Lincoln.
Kaleb Davis had a team-high nine putouts while
Laban Petzoldt and
Jackson Walker were next with four apiece.
Kolton Clark added three putouts. Lovell, meanwhile, led the defense with six assists.
Lincoln heads to Joplin, Mo. this weekend for a three-game series at Missouri Southern. The teams will meet on Friday (April 29) at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday (April 30) and Sunday (May 1) at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
