OMAHA, Neb. -
Erica Gibbons scored 20 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team dropped a 98-49 decision to Nebraska Omaha in an exhibition contest on Thursday night (Dec. 1).
The Mavericks, an NCAA Division I program, used a big first half to control game, scoring 30 points in the first quarter and 28 in the second en route to a 58-17 halftime lead. The Blue Tigers played UNO more evenly in the second half, as Lincoln chipped in 20 points in the third period and were only out-scored by two points in the fourth.
Lincoln finished with fewer turnovers (15) than Nebraska Omaha (18), and matched the Mavericks in blocks with four, including two by Gibbons. The Blue Tigers also totaled 16 steals compared to 15 for UNO and shot .875 from the free throw line.
Gibbons completed her night with four steals and a pair of rebounds.
Tyler Brown-Henderson finished second in the scoring among the Blue Tigers with nine points, four boards and a steal.
Azaria Nave contributed eight points, three rebounds and a pair of assists to the LU cause while
Hunter Yoakum added four points, three steals and two assists.
Shamirah Johnson and
Citlali Lopez each scored three points, with Johnson additionally grabbing three rebounds and Lopez dishing three assists.
Tempary Gunter rounded out the scoring with two points, a block and a steal.
Kailey Foster, meanwhile, provided two steals and a block.
Lincoln travels to St. Charles, Mo. on Saturday (Dec. 3) to play Harris Stowe in the Show Me State Classic at 1:00 p.m. CST. The game, part of a double-header with Lincoln's men's team, will be played in Hyland Arena on Lindenwood University's campus.
