Blue Tigers Roll to First 5-2 Start Since '81-'82

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Six members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures as the Blue Tigers rolled to a 105-55 win over Robert Morris-Springfield on Tuesday night (Nov. 29). The win improved Lincoln to 5-2 for the first time since the 1981-82 season.

The Blue Tigers shot .562 from the floor for the evening, including .633 in the second half, and held the Eagles to just 14 points in the first 20 minutes. The Blue Tigers finished with a 52-30 advantage in rebounds and forced RMU-Springfield into 13 turnovers, tallying nine steals in the process.

Anthony Virdure led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points and dished a game-high seven assists to go with five rebounds and three steals. Jaylon Smith scored 17 and tallied four rebounds, a pair of assists, a block and a steal. Darrius Spencer had LU's other block of the night and scored 11 points while grabbing four rebounds and dishing a pair of assists.

Alexander Nailes and Deionte Wilson tied for the team lead with six rebounds each, with Nailes also scoring six points. Wilson, meanwhile, finished with four points and a steal. Tacourrus Mattox grabbed five boards and totaled 11 points, while Maurice Mason scored 12 and Chase Morfeld chipped in 10. Mason additionally dished six assists to go with two rebounds and a steal while Morfeld added four boards, an assist and a steal to the LU cause.

O'Shai Clark provided six points and a pair of rebounds, and Richie Lewis totaled four points, two boards and an assist. Rod Ollison (four points) and Kevin Bolen (two) rounded out the scoring, with Ollison contributing a pair of assists, two rebounds and a steal. Bolen also had a steal to go with four rebounds. All 12 Blue Tigers who played on Tuesday scored at least two points and pulled down at least two rebounds, with five also tallying multiple assists.

The Blue Tigers will now be off until Saturday (Dec. 3), when Lincoln travels to St. Charles, Mo. to play Harris Stowe in the Show Me State Classic. Tip-off for that contest, which will be played in Hyland Arena on Lindenwood University's campus, is set for 3:00 p.m. CST.
