JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - For the third-straight home game, a Lincoln player broke a program record. McKendree scored on offense, defense and special teams, however, to hand the LU football team a 55-3 loss on Saturday (Oct. 29).
Winfrey's first catch of the day, a 12-yard grab for a first down early in the first quarter, was the 144th of his Lincoln career. With it, the senior wide receiver broke a tie with Maurice Woodard for the program record for career receptions. Winfrey finished with two catches for 32 yards.
It marked the third-straight home game in which a Blue Tiger broke at least one school record.
Alex Templeton set LU marks for most field goals made (four) and longest field goal made (54 yards) against Lane on Oct. 1. In Lincoln's last home game,
Dennis Vinson set new standards for completions (34) and passing yards (432) against Saint Joseph's on Oct. 8.
McKendree (6-3, 4-2 GLVC) scored a pair of defensive touchdowns in the fourth quarter, made a pair of field goals, and compiled 556 yards of total offense to beat the Blue Tigers at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. Lincoln (1-8, 0-6 GLVC) scored late in the second quarter on a 48-yard field goal by Templeton, but were held to just nine first downs on the afternoon.
Addison Tucker led the LU defense with 14 tackles, including two for a loss, and a fumble recovery.
Willard Cotton also made two tackles for loss and finished second on the squad with 10 tackles to go with a forced fumble.
Marvin Holley added nine tackles while
Julius Jackson totaled eight takedowns, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry.
Noah Johnson had the lone sack of the day for Lincoln, and finished with seven tackles, including two for a loss.
Amani Nelson, who made six tackles, also forced a fumble while
Anthony Mitchell made a fumble recovery.
Lawrence Hogue and
Taj Moore each made five tackles apiece.
Andrew McIntyre completed 13 passes for 107 yards, with
Delvon Rouser catching four of those throws.
Anthony Townsend led the Blue Tigers with 34 yards on three receptions while
Deonte Latimer had two grabs for 29 yards. Templeton, meanwhile, averaged 65 yards on kickoffs with a pair of touchbacks and 40 yards on punts with three pinning the Bearcats inside their own 20.
The Blue Tigers will be on the road for the final time in 2016 next Saturday (Nov. 5), as Lincoln travels to Liberty, Mo. to play William Jewell. Kickoff for that contest is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CST.
