EDMOND, Okla. - The Blue Tigers could not overcome one of their coldest shooting nights of the season as the Lincoln men's basketball team fell on the road to Central Oklahoma, 105-78, on Thursday night (Jan. 28).
The Blue Tigers shot .333 from the floor in the first half and .391 overall. Lincoln connected on nine of its 28 three-point attempts (.321) and made 15 of 22 shots from the line (.682). Central Oklahoma, meanwhile, had one of its hottest shooting nights of the season, going 36-for-57 from the floor (.632) and 14-for-23 from three-point land (.609).
The cold shooting in the first half hurt the Blue Tigers, who entered halftime down 59-29. Lincoln (12-8, 8-6 MIAA) warmed up a little in the second half, shooting .436 from the field while out-scoring Central Oklahoma (11-9, 7-7 MIAA), 49-46. LU finished with a slight 11-12 edge in turnovers, but UCO won the rebounding battle, 37-33.
Anthony Virdure led all scorers with 27 points while
Jaylon Smith was next with 18 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and a block.
O'Shai Clark also finished in double figures, scoring 10 points and tallying five boards, three steals and a block.
Richie Lewis just missed double-digits with nine points, five boards and five assists.
Aaron Spudich also pulled down five rebounds and scored three points.
Darrius Spencer also tallied three points while
Tacourrus Mattox scored four and
Rod Ollison and
Chase Morfeld each chipped in two apiece.
Alexander Nailes contributed two rebounds to the Blue Tiger cause while
DeAnthony Wilson finished with one.
Lincoln will try to rebound on Saturday (Jan. 30), when the Blue Tigers visit Tahlequah, Okla. for a 3:30 p.m. CST game against Northeastern State.
